Give Your Valentine`s Day an International Flavour
9. A Game of Love in Denmark
Although they’ve only really celebrated Valentine’s Day since the 1990s, the Danes already have several of their own traditions. One of the sweetest is that men give women Joke Cards or gaekkebrev, with funny rhymes written on intricately cut paper. They sign their names with dots only, and the objects of their affection must guess whom the missives are from. If the women are right, they win an Easter egg later in the year.
10. Roses all Round in Taiwan
Taiwan celebrates love on 14th February and then again on 7th July, with gifts of the country’s gorgeous flowers. The number and kind of flowers that are given always carries special meaning; 108 roses mean a marriage proposal!
